Anyone can get tremendous benefit from doing a Quiet Retreat. Throughout life, we all experience some degree of trauma depending on the life we’ve had. Whether you’ve been led astray, are suffering from a minor injury, or have experienced severe trauma, Quiet Retreats will help you find a new path – your own path – to recovery, self-care, and personal growth. You’ll give yourself the opportunity to develop long-lasting understanding and discover meditation to undo the harmful or inhibiting effects your life experiences have had on you up until now and may have into the future.

Quiet Retreats has developed and been refined into an experience unlike any other. It has been specifically designed to provide the perfect environment for people to burn excess thinking, recover and recharge. The time, energy and attention usually spent on thinking about or interacting with other people and the world around you is spent on slowing down, truly resting, and reconnecting with all of yourself.

The retreats are silent. Many people find the idea of remaining quiet for an extended period of time to be daunting. But after the first day passes, and with the right guidance, you’ll quickly find that the silence is a welcome respite from your usual experiences. There’s no need to constantly acknowledge the people around you or worry about your interactions with the outside world. Instead, you can focus wholly on yourself in a healthy way.

For some, this will be the first time they experience this level of quietness and deeper sense of their own being. People often comment about how much they enjoyed the stillness of the retreat, that it was much easier to be quiet than expected. In fact, once reacquainted with the inner quiet of their own body, they just want more of it. The opportunity for this level of quietness has become one of the reasons the majority of first-time participants return each year to attend our quiet retreats.

Rediscover yourself

You can try to escape from life but you can’t escape yourself. Often we try to make things comfortable around us, to try to improve how it feels inside of us. When you are already comfortable with how you feel on the inside you are comfortable anywhere. This is how Quiet Retreats will help you – you’ll become so much more comfortable and content with yourself exactly as you are, however that is.

Quiet Retreats will help resolve old injuries, release long-held tensions and trauma, and end judgmental and critical thinking. You will resolve dissatisfaction in a new found sense of fulfilment deep within the physical sense of you and remove destructive behaviours from your life by resolving the deeper feelings that drive them. Resolving these issues at a physical level has a massive effect – clarity begins to return and you start to genuinely enjoy being yourself. It will literally change how it feels to be you.

Healing in this way can be challenging and at times confronting, but there is also a great relief in letting ourselves be the way we truly are, instead of striving to be better or pretending to be something else

For example: The effects from trauma changes how it feels to be you, which then changes how you think, act and function in life. Traumas from life are held as tensions, pains and distress in the body and are embedded with deeply disturbing feelings. These Quiet Retreats enable the meditation that the body does naturally to occur, which enables the body to unfreeze and harmlessly release these effects of trauma, and to recover how you feel without these inside of you.

Practical Information

Quiet retreats are held all over the world and run for up to 21 days. The minimum stay for first timers is 10 days. Numbers are moderate, we usually have around 20 people attending a retreat.

Our retreats provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can allow yourself to be exactly as you are. You will receive all the support you need for intense healing to take place.

Our retreats are carefully curated to ensure that attendees can get the most out of their time without any unnecessary interference. Retreat participation is available by request and a screening process precedes attendance.

Although the minimum of stay of 10 days gives you the time to genuinely settle into the retreat environment, the longer you stay, the deeper you’ll heal, and the more you will resolve the longstanding tension and patterns of stress your body may be retaining.

All sorts of people attend the retreats – professionals and business owners, as well as many people who just want quiet time and space to diffuse unnecessary thinking. It’s a time to recalibrate and re-energise yourself.

Quiet Retreats follow a simple daily routine and include extensive meditation sessions, ongoing support from Matthew, nutritious vegan food and accommodation for the duration of your stay.

If the thought of sitting still for long periods makes you nervous, know that participants are encouraged to take slow meditation walks during all sessions and if ever being still becomes too intense. It’s a firm but gentle approach to yourself that we encourage.

What's included
in the price?

For €240 per day, you'll get:

Accommodation, which can be shared or private depending on the venue. 

Wholesome, nutritious, tasty vegan meals (brunch and dinner) unlimited snacks, fresh fruit, and teas throughout the day. We don’t hold back on the quality of food we provide and always aim to source organic produce wherever possible.

*One private session with Matthew. 

*Additional sessions are an extra charge.

A typical day on retreat

6:30am – Wake up. The day begins when you’re awoken by a bell. You’ll have time to shower and fully wake up before the first meditation session.

7 – 10am – Meditation session. Here is usually a group interaction during each session where Matthew addresses an array of core life issues that we all face in our daily lives. During this time you’ll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

10:00am – 10:30am – Brunch. Outside of the group interactions, silence between others resumes. This gives you the opportunity to be left totally alone, without any form of distraction or perceived expectation, all the while receptive to support from everyone and everything around you.

10:30am – 1:00pm – Rest break. After brunch, you’ll have time to rest, sleep, go for a slow walk in solitude or, if you need to, speak privately with Matthew.

1 – 4pmMeditation session. After the break, a bell will call you back to the meditation room for another meditation session, and another group interaction.

4 – 4:30pm – Dinner

4:30 – 6:00pm – Rest period. Another break before the night-time period.

6:00 – 9:00pm – Meditation session. Usually we meditate until around 9pm. After that you’re then free to go to bed or relax in the quiet as you please.

Every day consists of this same structured routine designed to support your process. During breaks, tea, juice, fruit, and healthy snacks are made available to everyone at all times.
